Redback Networks Appoints New Head of Engineering
Redback Networks Inc., an Ericsson company that makes broadband routers for 75 percent of the world's largest fixed and mobile networks, today announced the appointment of Lele Nardin as senior vice president of engineering.
Prior to Redback, Lele spent 15 years at Cisco Systems in a variety of product development roles. Since 2000, he served as a vice president and general manager leading engineering and product management for some of Cisco's most successful routers and modular switches used to manage multi-billion dollar businesses. These include Cisco's 7200, 7500 and 7600 product families, the Cisco 10000, and for the enterprise, Cisco's Cat6k and Cat5k switches. Lele also has a successful track record in the development of network processors.
Before joining Cisco, Lele served as a SW technical leader at StrataCom where he was responsible for the Network Protocol layer of the IPX platform for which he holds a patent. Lele holds a Masters degree in electrical engineering and telecommunication systems from the University of Padova, Italy.
Redback Networks was acquired by Ericsson in January 2007. Over the last 15 months, Redback has won more than 100 carriers deals with Ericsson in 55 countries, including four of the top 10 mobile carriers and two additional top 20 fixed carriers.
