Survey Finds 73 Percent of Large Enterprises Experience Application Downtime Due to Application Infrastructure Failures

In its new 2006 survey of large-enterprise IT executives, automated configuration management software company mValent found that 73 percent of large enterprises regularly experience application downtime due to application infrastructure failure.

Additionally, nearly one-quarter of the 120 respondents said it takes at least one business day to manually correct a configuration error. These results are symptomatic of a problem that costs large enterprises billions of dollars each year in lost productivity and business disruption.

"Manual configuration management causes problems for businesses," said Enterprise Management Associates Senior Analyst Andi Mann. "We estimate that more than 60 percent of service impact is due to configuration problems.
