VoIP Benefits go way Beyond Cost Savings Claims New Research

A new study from the organisers of the VoIP for Business event (Olympia Conference Centre, London, 22nd and 23rd March 2006) reveals that businesses now consider ‘simplifying internal communications’ and ‘enhancing flexible working’ just as important a reason for investing in IP telephony technology as ‘reducing communications costs’. Each was rated as ‘very important’ in their decision to invest by 55% of respondents to the study.

The ‘Next Generation Communications for Business’ study also revealed that IP telephony solutions are being used to enable an increasingly wide range of converged communications applications. While providing a ‘phone service’ (at 65%) is still the most common use of an IP telephony system, ‘desktop video’ and ‘mobility’ are now used by 41% of IP telephony system users, and ‘telecommuting’ by 35%.

Over 50 respondents took part in the online survey — a half of which were already using VoIP solutions. The vast majority of VOIP solution users claimed to have met 50% or more of their targets for cost savings and performance improvements; and over 50% of VoIP solution owners expected to increase their VoIP investments.

“The survey shows not only that the IP telephony market is growing but also that it is maturing as organisations look to their IP networks and systems to deliver an increasingly wide variety of multi channel services” claims Adam Malik, Event Director for VoIP for Business.
