Sphere Communications Announces Alliance with BroadSoft to Deliver SIP Trunking
SIP Trunking enables enterprise customers deploying IP PBX solutions to converge voice and data onto common all-IP connections. Enterprise customers will no longer need to purchase and manage media gateway devices to interface IP voice to the PSTN. In addition, they will no longer need to purchase and manage traditional TDM-based voice circuits.
BroadSoft has deployed their BroadWorks® VoIP application platform with 135 carriers worldwide, enabling their IP networks to deliver next-generation voice and multimedia services.
“We’re excited to be at the forefront of SIP Trunking, delivering on our vision of an all-software, all-IP enterprise,” said Todd Landry, SVP, Sphere Communications. “Sphere-enabled enterprises of any size will be well positioned to leverage a global installed base of SIP Trunking-ready carriers for their IP PBX deployments.”
“The introduction of SIP Trunking enables the power of enhanced IP communications to move beyond the borders of the enterprise,” said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer for BroadSoft, “While the cost reduction is reason enough, the ability to open enhanced IP communications services between companies is even more powerful.”
Sphere Communications has completed testing of its Sphericall IP PBX SIP Trunking with BroadSoft’s Interop Labs, and connects its own IP voice traffic to the PSTN via SIP Trunking services from BroadSoft-based service providers.
Sphere is also directly certifying a variety of SIP Trunking service providers to ensure interoperability with the Sphericall IP PBX. Interested service providers should contact Sphere Communications for more information.
Sphere’s new SIP Trunking capability is based on SIPConnect (www.sipconnect.com), the industry initiative that has defined interoperability specifications based on IETF standards for SIP and VoIP.
