Frost & Sullivan Award Acknowledges Wicom As Technology Leader
The exceptional Wicom Communications Server Suite is a novel IP telephony software platform built on standard PC servers. This suite has exhibited the potential to eliminate the high cost of operating traditional systems, which run on multiple technical platforms.
Wicom’s browser-based PC clients and Symbian-based mobile clients enable users to access their own set of communication tools from any workstation or terminal around the world, thereby removing the constraints of working from a particular geographical location. It also provides a cost-efficient telephony platform. Moreover, by using these tools, multiple customers can share server capacity. The user requires only network access to applications.
Wicom supports thin-client embedding and server side integration by enabling Wicom telephony and value-added functionality to be embedded into third-party applications. It also provides support for several protocols that could be simultaneously used in the same application or in systems such as the H.323 towards Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) or H.323 for terminals.
Built on industry-standard platforms, Wicom’s solution does not require any proprietary expertise and allows companies to leverage their existing IT know-how. It also efficiently integrates with other business centric IT systems.
With business needs dictating a shift towards on-demand services, technologies incorporating a ‘pay-as-you-use’ service model are gaining in popularity. "As PBX applications wane and telephony increasingly becomes a part of the standard IT infrastructure, IP-based communication tools and mobile terminals integrated with corporate voice services are likely to become more common," conclude Ms.Rangan and Mr. Jain. In keeping with the trend, Wicom has strategically chosen to focus on contact center and corporate telephony solutions for fixed and wireless network environments.
Ilkka Kivimäki, President and CEO, Wicom Communications, added: "We are delighted to have been awarded the Frost & Sullivan Technology Leadership award. Separate telephony systems have come to an end of their life. Enterprise mobility, terminal independence and control of communication intensive business processes are the key to radically cut costs and increase performance. The industry leaders have realized this fact and we are happy to continue meeting their needs."
