Bill Clough Research Director, European Software Group, IDC
Bill Clough joined IDC's European Software Group as a research
analyst in August 2000 to cover the European enterprise and
CRM applications markets. Now Research Director for the European
Software Group, he continues to spend much of his time conducting
insightful qualitative and quantitative market sizing and
analysis studies on those specific software segments. This
research in connection with IDC's European Software Group
provides a complete view into the dynamics, players, sizing
and future direction of the various software markets in Europe.
In conjunction with research services, Mr. Clough also
contributes to primary market research projects under contract.
The result of his work has appeared in the form of white
papers, ROI/TCO studies, newsletters and case studies. In
addition, Mr. Clough has provided customized, strategic
advice for European software companies based on their performance
and potential that aid clients’ product planning and
corporate positioning.
Not only focused on the dynamics of European enterprise
software markets at IDC Bill has been actively involved
in giving presentations around Europe for end-user organizations
as well as appearing in the press. With these both public
and privately held forums, he hopes to help end-users improve
understanding of CRM technology and the connection to the
broader enterprise and supply chain IT strategies.
Prior to joining IDC, he was responsible for international
marketing and partner relations at a Danish start-up software
developer. Before that he worked for software developer
GeoWorks in Berkeley California in both sales and service
capacities, and for telecom provider Pacific Bell (SBC Communications)
where he was involved with the design and implementation
of a customized sales automation software solution. In all
capacities, Mr. Clough has focused his professional efforts
upon close understanding of the ties between how software
solutions impact corporate sales and service processes.
Originating from Northern California, Bill now lives in
Copenhagen. Bill holds a BA degree from San Francisco State
University in Sociology and International Business as well
