ACCESS COMMERCE to Support Linux and Open Source J2EE Application Servers
ACCESS COMMERCE announced plans to support the Cameleon Configurator and CRM Suite on the Linux operating system and on open source java application servers.
The Cameleon Configurator and CRM Suite help manufacturers increase order accuracy and customer satisfaction while reducing their cost of sales by improving the effectiveness of key steps in the lead-to-order process.
Cameleon's web-native architecture is designed for rapid deployment to field sales organizations, partners and indirect channels, and can be easily integrated with existing eBusiness sites.
With this announcement, ACCESS COMMERCE will accommodate the growing demand from manufacturing companies to reduce costs of their IT solutions.

"Adding Linux and an open source java application server to the list of supported environments for Cameleon allows our customers to benefit from the additional alternatives and innovations taking place in the platform market," says Mathieu Véron, Director of R&D at ACCESS COMMERCE. "Our target manufacturing customers are concerned with achieving the lowest total cost of ownership with their information systems. We believe that open source platforms have emerged as a solid alternative. They have become the preferred architecture among many of our customers and partners."
The Cameleon Configurator and CRM Suite accommodate a wide variety of hardware platforms, application servers and operating systems with full interoperability, high performance and scalability.
"We have been using Cameleon Configurator and CRM solutions since 1992 in all our home-improvement stores throughout Europe" says Bernard Charnay at Lapeyre, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain. "The availability of Cameleon on Linux is exciting news for Lapeyre, as it will allow us to leverage the expertise we have on Unix while allowing our IT people to run on whatever system they prefer. We really appreciate the flexibility that the ACCESS COMMERCE open approach gives us."
