Established in 1987 as a 100% subsidiary of The Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co., Ltd. in Japan, Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co. (USA) is a New Jersey state-chartered bank whose deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
STBUSA has been providing global custody services, securities lending and repurchase transaction services to its clients for more than 15 years.
In 1988, the company began its securities lending service in the U.S. and has now expanded that service to European markets.
STBUSA has experienced securities lending staff and a closed network with major securities companies and banks as its counterparts.
STBUSA has always sought to comply with the high standards of its parent company and to continually improve network communications between the two organizations.
Both enterprises are highly security conscious and also wanted a redundant IP network to avoid outages.
To optimize communications between STBUSA and corporate headquarters, the organization conducted an evaluation of multiple global service providers.
After a five-month evaluation, the company selected Infonet to provide STBUSA's redundant IP network based on its network reliability, service portfolio and 24/7 support.
"Our company is experiencing tremendous growth - with users in different countries. Infonet's World Network gives us a comfort level - knowing that as we expand, Infonet has global coverage in the areas we are targeting for expansion," stated Haruki Hasegawa, Vice President of the Corporate Planning Department for Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co. (USA).
"As a global provider, we understand the challenges of organizations like Sumitomo and are glad to have provided assistance for the company previously," stated Larry Malone, President of Infonet USA. "Our state-of-the-art IP VPN solutions provide access for STBUSA's users to time-sensitive and important company information," he concluded.
