Genesys Conferencing Appoints Green Officer
Global multimedia collaboration service leader Genesys Conferencing has appointed Kirsty Allenou-Stokes to the new position of Green Officer, as the company looks to establish a broadly-based sustainable development strategy.
Allenou-Stokes joined Genesys Conferencing in 2000, initially as general services manager. In her new role, she is primarily responsible for implementing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems standard company-wide. "Our Montpellier head office has already attained the ISO 14001 standard in December 2005," she indicates, "and a programme is well underway to achieve similar certification across all our offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific".
In achieving certification, as a tertiary services provider, Genesys Conferencing is primarily focusing its efforts on the reduction of waste and energy consumption. "In providing multimedia conferencing solutions with Genesys Meeting Center, our business is directly geared to reducing the carbon footprint of our customer base by reducing the need to travel to meetings," confirms Allenou-Stokes.
"As a result, it is especially important for us as a business to improve our own environmental performance, by putting in place a strong program of sustainable development which will include developing partnerships with sustainable development organisations".
Genesys Conferencing chief executive officer, Francois Legros, adds: "At a time when companies are increasingly looking for suppliers with solid "green" credentials, this new appointment reflects our total commitment - both at board level and throughout the business - to playing a full part in minimising ours and our customers' impact on the environment."
