The new platform is helping Reuters further engage its audience of affluent business professionals with advanced presentation of Reuters high-quality news and information, as well as the addition of Web 2.0 and community features to Reuters sites.

Unisys assistance enabled the Reuters development team to use the widely adopted MySQL database and Apache Tomcat application server to manage information more effectively and accelerate response to visitors' information requests via the Java software environment chosen for the sites.

The services and support that Unisys provides Reuters are part of the Unisys Open and Secure Integrated Solutions (OASIS) framework, a certified set of open source software suites and services drawing on Unisys proficiency in enterprise solution deployment.

Unisys helped Reuters determine the database clustering, replication, fail-over and fault tolerance capabilities required in the software environment, and also provided performance tuning on both the MySQL and Apache Tomcat systems.

In addition, Reuters has chosen Unisys to continue providing mission-critical 24x7 support for MySQL and Apache Tomcat.
